The wine region of Santorini is located in the region of Cyclades of Santorini of Greece. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Argyros or the Domaine Argyros produce mainly wines white, sweet and red. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Santorini are Assyrtiko, Aidani and Vidiano, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Santorini often reveals types of flavors of butterscotch, eucalyptus or dark chocolate and sometimes also flavors of raspberry, red cherry or cocoa.
In the mouth of Santorini is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 37 estates and châteaux in the of Santorini, producing 204 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Santorini go well with generally quite well with dishes of shellfish or lean fish.
A very old grape variety grown in Greece, mostly at high altitudes, it is believed to have originated on the island of Crete. It can also be found in the United States, but is practically unknown in France. According to A.D.N. analyses, it is related to Thrapsthiri and Vilana.
