The Barton & Guestier Wine Estate, located in Bordeaux, France, is a gem of French viticultural heritage. The property dates back to 1725, when Joseph Barton II bought the Château de La Rivière and Trianon, which became the heart of his vineyards. In 1802, Joseph's nephew, Alexandre, and his brother-in-law Theodore Guestier combined their names to create "Barton & Guestier". The vineyards are located in the historic triangle of Bordeaux, in Talence, within the prestigious AOC Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The Barton & Guestier Estate produces wines of exceptional quality and represents the excellence of Bordeaux viticulture. The vineyards extend over 110 hectares and include 5 hectares equivalent to 14 Médoc vineyards. The vineyards are hand-selected to guarantee the quality of the grapes produced. The land is prepared using a unique mix of natural fertilisers and fertilisation. Skilled winemakers carry out manual harvesting and controlled fermentation and ageing to create unique wines. The Barton & Guestier team is dedicated to sharing their passion for wine with the world and creating wines of exceptional quality and taste. The winemakers work with genuine expertise and build on more than 300 years of viticultural experience. Bordeaux, in southwestern France, is one of the most famous, prestigious and prolific wine regions in the world. The majority of Bordeaux wines (nearly 90% of the production Volume) are the Dry, medium and Full-bodied red Bordeaux blends for which it is famous. The finest (and most expensive) are the wines of the great châteaux of Haut-Médoc and the right bank appellations of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. The former focuses (at the highest level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter on Merlot.

The Bordeaux Red appellation represents more than a third of the total production. The official Bordeaux wine region extends 130 kilometres inland from the Atlantic coast. 111,000 hectares of vineyards were registered in 2018, a figure that has remained largely constant over the previous decade. However, the number of winegrowers has consolidated; in 2018 there were around 6,000, compared to 9,000 a decade earlier.
