The wine region of Mallorca is located in the region of Iles Baléares of Spain. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Ànima Negra or the Domaine Bodega Ribas produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Mallorca are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Manto negro, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Mallorca often reveals types of flavors of iron, oak or black fruit and sometimes also flavors of red fruit, baking spice or balsamic.
In the mouth of Mallorca is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 113 estates and châteaux in the of Mallorca, producing 456 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Mallorca go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, pasta or veal.
This grape variety is native to the Balearic Islands (Spain), more precisely to the island of Mayorque, and has been cultivated for a very long time. It is said to be the result of a natural cross between the Callet Cas Concos (Negrella) and the Fogoneu, the former being in danger of extinction. Callet is hardly known in other wine-producing countries, but in France it should be interesting for the production of original rosé wines that are pleasant to drink.
