The wine region of Mallorca is located in the region of Iles Baléares of Spain. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Ànima Negra or the Domaine Bodega Ribas produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Mallorca are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Manto negro, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Mallorca often reveals types of flavors of iron, oak or black fruit and sometimes also flavors of red fruit, baking spice or balsamic.

This variety of grape is characterized by medium-sized bunches and medium-sized grapes. The black Tempranillo can be found in several vineyards: South-West, Languedoc & Roussillon, Cognac, Bordeaux, Rhone valley, Provence & Corsica, Loire valley, Savoie & Bugey, Beaujolais.

The small island of Gorgona, just off the coast of Livorno, isn’t your run-of-the-mill viticultural area – its main purpose is to serve as a penal colony. Not just any prisoner can reside on Gorgona, however. Up to 90 incarcerated men live on the island at a time, alongside 17 residents and a handful of police officers. Jean-Guillaume Prats is set to leave the business around four years after being appointed CEO and president of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR Lafite).
