The Domaine Barbeito vineyard, located in Madeira, Portugal, is an internationally renowned wine house known for its production of exceptionally high-quality wines. Founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos, Domaine Barbeito began its winemaking journey with an innovative production philosophy. Instead of blending wines from different years, as is tradition in Madeira, Mário chose to preserve the individual character of each harvest, thus creating a unique selection of vintage wines. The vineyards of Domaine Barbeito are planted on terraces, perfectly matching the rugged terrain of the Madeira Island. The composition of the soil, mainly consisting of basalt, gives the wines an unparalleled complexity and richness of taste and flavors. Each grape is hand-sorted to ensure optimum quality before undergoing the traditional winemaking process. The wine cellar of the estate, a historic place where the precious vintages are stored, exudes a unique feeling of tradition and romance.
