The wine region of Lago di Caldaro is located in the region of Trentin-Haut-Adige of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Lacus or the Domaine Castel Sallegg produce mainly wines red, white and sweet. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Lago di Caldaro are Cabernet franc, Merlot and Pinot noir, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Lago di Caldaro often reveals types of flavors of strawberries, raspberry or red fruit and sometimes also flavors of non oak, earth or oak.
In the mouth of Lago di Caldaro is a powerful. We currently count 30 estates and châteaux in the of Lago di Caldaro, producing 41 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Lago di Caldaro go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, pasta or lamb.

This variety of grape is characterized by small to medium sized bunches, and medium sized grapes. Merlot noir can be found in many vineyards: South West, Languedoc & Roussillon, Cognac, Bordeaux, Loire Valley, Armagnac, Burgundy, Jura, Champagne, Rhone Valley, Beaujolais, Provence & Corsica, Savoie & Bugey.
