The Tenuta Sette Ponti Estate, renowned for its production of world-class wines, is a prestigious winery located in the picturesque region of Tuscany, Italy. Spanning over 330 hectares, the winery is nestled amidst green rolling hills and charming vineyards, offering panoramic views over the dazzling Italian countryside. The estate owes its name, which literally means "seven bridges," to the seven bridges that span the Arno River and are found between the city of Florence and the estate. The estate has been owned by the Moretti family since the 1950s, and today it is Alberto Moretti who passionately runs the estate, preserving the family heritage while bringing a touch of modernity. Tenuta Sette Ponti is recognized for its production of high-quality wines, notably "Oreno", a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which has several times received the prestigious "Wine Spectator's Top 100" award. The vines, planted in clay-rich and sandy soil, enjoy an ideal microclimate for the production of these varieties, making each vintage unique. At the estate, every step in the winemaking process is carefully monitored. Sustainable farming practices are used to maintain the balance of the local ecosystem and to ensure the quality of the wine. Grapes are hand-picked to ensure that only the best are used. After vinification, the wines are aged in French oak barrels to develop their complexity and structure. Visiting the Tenuta Sette Ponti Estate is also discovering a place steeped in history. The buildings on the property, some of which date back to the 16th century, provide an authentic and charming setting.

Discovering the wine region of Tuscany

Tuscany is one of the most famous and prolific wine regions in Europe. It is best known for its Dry red wines made from Sangiovese grapes, which dominate production. These include Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The region's Vin Santo is also highly prized, as are its passito dessert wines, though these are produced in comparatively tiny quantities.

Dry whites are probably less familiar to most consumers - except perhaps Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Located in Central Italy, Tuscany borders Liguria and Emilia-Romagna to the North, Umbria and Marche to the east and Lazio to the South. Its western border is formed by the Tyrrhenian Sea. The picturesque rolling hills, medieval villages and cypress-lined avenues attract tourists and help promote the wines.
