The wine region of Bergamasca is located in the region of Lombardie of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Il Calepino or the Domaine Eligio Magri produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Bergamasca are Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Chardonnay, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Bergamasca often reveals types of flavors of earth, oak or black fruit and sometimes also flavors of non oak, spices or red fruit.
In the mouth of Bergamasca is a powerful. We currently count 33 estates and châteaux in the of Bergamasca, producing 87 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Bergamasca go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, pasta or lamb.
Originally from Italy, it is the famous Sangiovese of Tuscany producing the famous wines of Brunello de Montalcino and Chianti. This variety is registered in the Official Catalogue of Wine Grape Varieties, list A1. According to recent genetic analysis, it is the result of a natural cross between the almost unknown Calabrese di Montenuovo (mother) and Ciliegiolo (father).
