The Elio Sandri Estate is a hidden gem among the rolling hills of Barolo, in the north-west of Italy. Established in the early 1970s, this vineyard is renowned for its authentic wines that wonderfully reflect the unique terroir of Piedmont and pay homage to the region's viticultural heritage. The estate's entrance is marked by a large wrought-iron gate, revealing a breathtaking view over the vineyards. Surrounded by majestic green hills and scattered with carefully maintained rows of vines, these vineyards produce three types of grapes: Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera. Led by Elio Sandri himself, the Elio Sandri Estate has always placed great importance on the production of wine without frills. Here, the commitment to organic viticulture is evident. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used, the soil work is done by hand, and the yield is kept low to ensure quality. The cellar, an impressive building of rustic majesty, is the place where the grape is turned into meticulously crafted wines. At this estate, each wine is the pure expression of its grape variety and the terroir from which it comes. The Barolo Perno, for example, is produced from Nebbiolo grapes. This red wine captivates with its deep character, its complex notes of red fruits, spices, and pepper, and its perfect balance of acidity and tannins. As for Sandri's Dolcetto and Barbera wines, they are characterized by their elegance, their aromas of black fruits, spices, and their soft tannins. More than just a vineyard, the Elio Sandri Estate is a true ambassador for the Barolo region.

Discover the grape variety: Nebbiolo

A very old grape variety grown in the Italian Piedmont. It has a great resemblance with the Freisa, which also comes from the same Italian region. Among the various massal selections made in Italy, we find lampia, michet and rosé. It can be found in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Mexico, the United States (California), Australia, etc. In France, it is practically unknown, perhaps because it is a delicate and demanding grape variety with, among other things, a fairly long phenological cycle.
