Discover the grape variety: Mauzac

Mauzac is a grape variety, black or white (the white one is better known), originating from the South-West. It is mainly cultivated in the vineyards of Gaillac and Limoux (where it is called blanquette), on about 5,000 hectares. mauzac has medium-sized bunches, composed of berries whose colour can vary from green to red depending on the maturity of the grapes. It is also used in some appellations such as Entre-deux-Mers, Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux, Côtes-de-Duras, Vins-de-Lavilledieu...

Yoga among the vines is s ...

Back in August, wine critic Lin Liu MW (together with her partner Philippe Lejeune of Château de Chambert in Cahors) came to dinner, en route to a short holiday in Provence. One of the bottles Lin brought for us to try together was the 2018 Les Rocheuses, Parcelles No 5 et 6, from Château Le Rey in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. It came in a slope-shouldered bottle, not a classic Bordeaux bottle. We tried it with some R ...

The Last Drop Distillers unveils trio of new releases

The launch of the 2022 Collection takes the total number of Last Drop releases to 27 since the company was founded by drinks industry veterans Tom Jago and James Espey in 2008. Tom’s daughter Rebecca Jago is now the company’s MD. This year’s releases include The Last Drop’s first Japanese whisky: a blended malt that includes whisky from the fabled Hanyu distillery, taken from the beginning and end of its brief lifespan (1980-2000), as well as malts from other unidentified Japanese distilleries. ...
