The Domaine Le Roc des Anges is situated in the heights of Languedoc, a few kilometers from Montpellier in France. It's here where the wine magician, Antoinene Lassaigne, creates his unique wines from the local grape varieties of the region. The vines, situated on a piece of land near the Herault river, sheltered by pines, are nestled at 590m above sea level, facing east to benefit from maximum sunlight. Antoinene has adopted sustainable agriculture, the use of deep pits, the application of an ancient pruning technique and cross air flow to ensure ripe and balanced wines. The Domaine du Roc des Anges also produces slightly irritated white wines. The winery's Chardonnay is taut and sugared, with aromas of pear and honey flower. Each harvest is carefully hand-selected, and the wines are conditioned and aged from the most complex barrels, all coming together to create authentic and lively wines. The rosé is also renowned for its complexity. The Carignans from La Rochelle are blended with Cinsaults to give an aromatic wine with a pale pink color. Red fruit notes and hints of citrus are combined with a slightly woody bouquet. The red wine may be the pearl of the wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon is highlighted for its fresh herb and warm spice aromas in a rich, balanced and complex mouthfeel. With great attention to all the procedures carried out at Domaine du Roc des Anges, Antoinene creates wines that tell unique stories: stories of passion, patience and love for the vines. The wines produced here are unique in capturing the melody of the surrounding terroirs. One of the many wineries in Languedoc producing exceptional wines, Domaine Le Roc des Anges promises its customers unique and special wines.

Discovering the wine region of Languedoc

Languedoc (formerly Coteaux du Languedoc) is a key appellation used in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France. It covers Dry table wines of all three colors (red, white and rosé) from the entire region, but leaves Sweet and Sparkling wines to other more specialized appellations. About 75% of all Languedoc wines are red, with the remaining 25% split roughly down the middle between whites and rosés. The appellation covers most of the Languedoc region and almost a third of all the vineyards in France.

The typical Languedoc red wine is medium-bodied and Fruity. The best examples are slightly heavier and have darker, more savoury aromas, with notes of spice, undergrowth and leather. The Grape varieties used to make them are the classic southern French ones: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, often with a touch of Carignan or Cinsaut. The white wines of the appellation are made from Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc, with occasional use of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne from the Rhône Valley.
