Discover the grape variety: Négret pounjut
An ancient grape variety endemic to the Fronton region in the Haute Garonne that could also be found in La Ville Dieu du Temple in the Lot et Garonne. Today, it is not very present in the vineyard and is on the verge of extinction. It is, however, registered in the Official Catalogue of wine grape varieties, list A. It should not be confused with Négret de Banhars, Négret Castrais or Négret de la Canourgue, and it should be noted that it is related to Prunelard. The wine region of Ahr
Ahr is one of Germany’s least-known and Northernmost wine regions, known for its Pinot Noir reds. It Lies immediately north of the Mosel, and follows the Ahr River in the Final stages of its journey towards its confluence with the Rhein. One might expect a wine region this far north (50°N) to specialize in white wines – like almost every other cool-Climate wine region. After all, neighboring Mosel and Mittelrhein both clearly favor white wines (around 85 percent).
The word of the wine: Astringent
Said of a wine that is a bit harsh and rough on the palate. Astringency often appears in young red wines that are rich in tannins and need to be rounded out.
