The wine region of Montescudaio is located in the region of Toscane of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Marchesi Ginori Lisci or the Domaine Pagani de Marchi produce mainly wines red and white. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Montescudaio are Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Montescudaio often reveals types of flavors of non oak, earth or oak and sometimes also flavors of spices, red fruit or black fruit.
In the mouth of Montescudaio is a powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins. We currently count 12 estates and châteaux in the of Montescudaio, producing 32 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Montescudaio go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or veal.

The French shipment of 600 bottles of De Haartman & Co Cognac – plus 15 boxes of Bénédictine liqueur – is believed to have been destined for Tsar Nicholas II, but was intercepted in the Baltic Sea and sunk by a German submarine in May 1917.
