The Zind Humbrecht Estate is a family-owned vineyard located in the Alsace wine region of France. Founded by Léonard and Hildegarde Humbrecht in Gueberschwihr in 1959, the Estate has been run by Olivier Humbrecht, their son, since 1983. Olivier is one of the last family winemakers practicing in Alsace. Humbrecht is a terroir laboratory and is dedicated to the production of the finest Alsace wines. The Zind Humbrecht Estate produces both white and red wines. The white wines are aromatic wines made with traditional grape varieties such as gewurztraminer, riesling, pinot gris, pinot blanc, and muscat. The estate also produces red wines from pinot noir and sylvaner grape varieties. The wines are aged in oak barrels some of which are older. The Zind Humbrecht Estate also produces high-quality sparkling wines and several wines are also sold in bottles. The vast plots of the Estate are spread out along the magnificent Alsace vineyard and they are part of the oldest European vineyards. Yields are deliberately limited to achieve the highest quality of wine produced on the vineyard. One of the most famous wines from the Zind Humbrecht Estate is the Clos Jebsal. This wine is produced with skill and respect for the terroir and is recognized for its aromatic richness and quality. The red wines from the Zind Humbrecht Estate are also exceptional and are produced in a perfect combination between modern best practices and ancient traditions. The Zind Humbrecht Estate is a family business, and numerous practices are leveraged to produce outstanding wines. Olivier Humbrecht is recognized for his commitment throughout his career and his constant efforts to produce quality wines. The resulting wines are the product of attention, expertise, and a passion for their production that is second to none among other Alsace vineyards.

Discovering the wine region of Alsace

Alsace, located in the extreme north-east of France, is Distinguished from other French wine regions by its strong Franco-Germanic influences. These influences are the result of a back-and-forth between the German and French sovereignties over the last few centuries. They can be seen not only in the architecture and culture of Alsace, but also in the wines. Alsace wines are produced under three main appellations: Alsace and Alsace Grand Cru for still white wines (Sweet and Dry), and Crémant d'Alsace for Sparkling wines.

Almost all the wines produced in this region fall under one of these three appellations. Alsace Grand Cru wines are produced from one of the 51 privileged vineyards spread along the Length of the region. Alsace is the only French wine region to produce significant quantities of Riesling and Gewurztraminer. These two grape varieties are more commonly associated with German wines and are reminiscent of Alsace's history.
