Discovering the wine region of Régnié

Regnié is an appellation for red wines made from Gamay grapes in the northern Beaujolais, covering land immediately east of the Village of Beaujeu. Regnié wines are among the lightest of the Beaujolais crus. They are fragrant and structured, with refined tannins. The communes of Regnié-Durette and Lantignié were once Part of the more Generic Beaujolais Villages appellation.

Years of lobbying by the region's producers led to confirmation in 1988 that the area was the tenth growth of Beaujolais. The Regnié wine area is the westernmost of the Beaujolais crus, and the Vineyards are on the high slopes of the Beaujolais hills, facing east and South, with views of the Ardières to the south. The Morgon vineyard is to the northwest of Regnié, and the Brouilly vineyard to the south. The Terroir of Regnié is Distinguished by the pink granite soils found on the heights of the Beaujolais hills.

Discover the grape variety: Courbu

Courbu is indigenous to the Pyrenean vineyards. This white grape variety is part of the Jurançon family. Three clones are recognized in this variety, which buds in the medium term, develops regularly and has satisfactory productivity. The way in which the shoots form is characteristic. Initially upright, they bend and curve, giving a parasol-like finish to the vine. A vigorous rootstock is recommended to see the Courbu develop and mature at a late age. The small clusters display quite distinctive features. Not necessarily winged, they are pignate and stocky, with a rounded or rather flattened shape. A light pink veil covers the most mature berries, but the original colour varies from yellow-green to golden white. Vinification enhances the juice of this variety. The bouquet becomes more refined with age under a pale yellow colour. Dry or sweet, this wine is always remarkably fine.
