Founded in 1840 by the Tiollier family, the Domaine de l'Idylle now spans 38 hectares, nestled in the heart of the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park. Owning a long history and a rich winemaking tradition, this estate is held as a reference point for wines from Savoie. The Domaine de l'Idylle also stands out for its commitment to respect the environment and to provide high-quality wine, produced with sustainable and nature-friendly agricultural practices. Evidence of this is their HVE (High Environmental Value) certification obtained in 2013. The estate consists of several types of soil, ranging from limestone to clay, through to granitic and schist soils, which allows for a wide variety of wines each with their unique and distinct character. The vineyard is primarily planted with regional varieties, such as Mondeuse, Persan, but also Jacquère and Altesse. The Domaine de l'Idylle produces structured and delicate white wines, with a bouquet of floral and fresh fruit aromas, appreciated for their finesse and refreshing lightness. As for the red wines, they are known for their robust structure and aging potential. The estate also produces very popular sparkling wines with delicately fruity and floral notes.

Discovering the wine region of Savoie

Savoie is a wine region in eastern France, in the mountainous areas just South of Lake Geneva and on the border with Switzerland. The location and geography of the region has very much defined its Character, which is fragmented, hilly and slightly Swiss. This is evident in the fresh, crisp white wines produced here, as well as in the labels of the region's wines. Many bear a white cross on a red background - the flag of Switzerland and Savoy.

About three quarters of the region's wines are white. This is mainly because most of the red Grapes would have difficulty maturing properly in the cooler Climate of Savoy. Jacquère is the most widely planted white grape, due to its high yield. Altesse, traditionally known here as Roussette, is used to produce some of the finest wines in Savoie, including its own appellations of Roussette de Savoie and Roussette de Bugey.
