The Mas Doix Estate is located in one of Spain's most prestigious wine regions, Priorat. This region, situated in the northeast of Spain in Catalonia, is renowned for its full-bodied, mineral-rich red wines, characteristic of its unique terroir. Since its establishment in 1850, the estate has flourished under the leadership of the Doix and Llagostera family. Now led by brothers Ramon and Valenti Llagostera, the Mas Doix Estate has become a benchmark in the wine world and a true institution in Priorat. What sets this estate apart is above all its unique terroir, characterized by its dry, slate soils known as "llicorella". This poor soil forces the vines to dive their roots deep to seek out water, thus concentrating the fruit's aroma in the grapes. The estate also benefits from a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters, conducive to grape maturation. Mas Doix has 45 hectares of vineyards, some of which are over a hundred years old. The estate mainly cultivates Grenache and Carignan, but also other varietals such as Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These old vines produce grapes of exceptional quality that bolster the reputation of the estate’s wines. Mas Doix Estate is committed to environmentally friendly viticulture, favoring manual interventions and minimizing the use of chemicals. This commitment shines through in their wines, which reflect the purity and complexity of their terroir. The estate is also renowned for its flagship wine, the Doix Costers de Vinyes Velles, a powerful and complex red wine with hints of black fruit, chocolate and spices, culminating in a long finish.
