The Yann Chave Estate is located in Crozes-Hermitage in the northeast of France. This vineyard is in the renowned wine-growing region of Côtes du Rhône. It's a small family-run operation managed by Yann and his wife Catherine Chave. Their vineyard has produced high-quality Syrah red wines for over 20 years. Yann has strong ties to the region. His family began grape farming in the mid-nineteenth century and his clan has headed the estate over four generations. In the 70s, his grandfather started producing quality wines with a varied palette of grape varieties, including Syrah. Yann has continued to develop the vineyard and has refined the winemaking methods to produce more noble, refined, and complex wines. He works exclusively with grape varieties primarily from Syrah. He has also used specific aging in oak barrels of different origins to maximize aromatic expressions and the level of concentration in the mouth. The estate also offers white and rosé wines with unique flavors and structures. They are the result of a blend of different grape varieties, including Clairette, Roussanne, and Marsanne. These wines are aromatic with a satin texture and well-defined aromas. The wines from the Yann Chave Estate are considered great wines by sommeliers and the Syrah grapes offer a rare typicity that's seldom found elsewhere. They are the result of a passion for the land and the art of producing fine, complex wines that will delight connoisseurs.

Discover the grape variety: Meslier Saint-François

Meslier Saint François is a French grape variety that comes from the Gatinais, located south of the Paris basin. It was obtained from a cross between Chenin and Gouais Blanc. It is planted on a surface area of 50 ha in France and is often confused with Arbois, hence the synonym it shares with the latter, Orbois. Its berries and clusters are of normal size. Its adult leaves have convex teeth. Meslier Saint François is not very vigorous, but it remains fertile. It buds early, 3 days before Chasselas. It is often exposed to spring frosts and is susceptible to oidium and grey rot. Meslier Saint François produces flat, light wines with little alcohol. When distilled, its eaux de vie are full of bouquet and fine. It can thus be used in the blending of grape varieties that produce cognac or armagnac.

Discover the grape variety: Marsanne

Marsanne is a white grape variety that originated in Montélimar in the Drôme, several centuries ago. Marsanne is also found in Cassis, Savoie, Languedoc-Roussillon and Saint-Péray in the Ardèche, where it produces remarkable sparkling wines. The warm, sunny climate of the Rhone Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence, as well as the dry, stony soil, are ideal conditions for its development. Its bunches are quite large and provide small, juicy berries that are sensitive to grey rot and strong winds. These two grape varieties complement each other perfectly: together they give light wines with little acidity, aromas of yellow fruit, white fruit and flowers with notes of honey and liquorice. This is for example what the appellations Saint-Péray, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Côtes-du-Vallée du Rhône, Corbières, or Cassis express... which represent about 700 hectares.
