The Château d'Oupia is located in Languedoc-Roussillon, France. Situated on the left bank of the Hérault River, the property is planted with over 13 hectares of vineyards, as well as numerous orchards and olive groves. Organic and environmentally friendly, the Château d'Oupia is the product of attentive work, dedication, and artisanal skill of the Terral family members who, for three generations, cultivate, produce, and market wines that combine quality, balance, and refined luxury. The changing and complex vineyards are divided into several viticultural units to serve the different vintages, from the major local appellations, such as the AOC Corbières and the Faugère, to cuvées adhering to organic standards and including the "Vin de Pays d'Oc", which is the starting point for the white and rosé wines of Château d'Oupia. Indeed, the variety of grape varieties includes Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Uvaggio, Cinsault, Clairette, Roussanne, and Viognier. Glorious plantings of pine and oak give the property and its wines a final touch of spicy nuances, Mediterranean herbs, and undergrowth. The weather plays its part and favors a wild environment; forests, hills, and plains to discover and enjoy with determined, authentic wines that carry the seal of ancestral heritage. Born from the subtle alchemy between nature and winemaking, Château d'Oupia is a unique experience of its kind and a rich and innovative meeting point between tradition and modern viticultural practices. True wines, not at all industrialized, that bring a real delight to your table.

Discovering the wine region of Languedoc-Roussillon

Languedoc (formerly Coteaux du Languedoc) is a key appellation used in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France. It covers Dry table wines of all three colors (red, white and rosé) from the entire region, but leaves Sweet and Sparkling wines to other more specialized appellations. About 75% of all Languedoc wines are red, with the remaining 25% split roughly down the middle between whites and rosés. The appellation covers most of the Languedoc region and almost a third of all the vineyards in France.

The typical Languedoc red wine is medium-bodied and Fruity. The best examples are slightly heavier and have darker, more savoury aromas, with notes of spice, undergrowth and leather. The Grape varieties used to make them are the classic southern French ones: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, often with a touch of Carignan or Cinsaut. The white wines of the appellation are made from Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc, with occasional use of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne from the Rhône Valley.
