The wine region of Guerrouane is located in the region of Meknès of Morocco. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine des Ouled Thaleb or the Les Deux Domaines produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Guerrouane are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Mourvèdre and Merlot, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Guerrouane often reveals types of flavors of cherry, red cherry or cedar and sometimes also flavors of dark chocolate, raisin or tropical.
We currently count 15 estates and châteaux in the of Guerrouane, producing 95 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Guerrouane go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or spicy food.
It is a crossbreed made in 1855 by Louis and Henri Bouschet from an intraspecific crossing between Grenache noir and Petit Bouschet. The Alicante Henri Bouschet is less and less multiplied, registered however in the Official Catalogue of the varieties of vine of wine grapes list A.
