DOCG of the Marche on the Conero promontory south of Ancona (Adriatic coast, chalky-clay soils, continental climate tempered by the sea, DOCG 2004): Montepulciano red king (≥85%) — black cherry, blackberry and plum underpinned by black pepper, Mediterranean herbs and saline minerality. Alcohol ≥12. 5%, minimum 2-year ageing, cellaring potential up to 10 years. A racé maritime red.
