The Domaine Coteaux de Schengen is a viticultural jewel located in the picturesque Moselle region of Luxembourg. It derives its name from the Schengen agreement, famous for shaping the history of the European Union, just as the estate has shaped the Luxembourgish wine tradition. Spanning 123 acres, the estate is a mosaic of fertile lands bathed in sunshine and caressed by river breezes that create ideal conditions for vine growing. However, it's not just the terroir that makes the richness of Domaine Coteaux de Schengen, it's also the history and heritage that accompanies it. It has been cultivated by generations of the same families, each winemaker passing down their love of the vine and their craft to their successor. A wide variety of grape varieties are grown on the estate, including Riesling, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Gris, enabling the production of a diverse range of high-quality Luxembourgish wines. The vineyards are tended with dedication to produce grapes imbued with the unique flavors of the Luxembourg Moselle, which can be detected in every sip of the estate's wines. The Domaine Coteaux de Schengen offers opulent tastings in a dedicated cellar, where each wine is presented and explained in detail by expert sommeliers. Visitors are given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the winemaking process, from the harvesting of grapes to the bottling, for a truly immersive experience. But the richness of the Domaine Coteaux de Schengen doesn't stop at its wine. The vast vineyards offer a breathtaking view over the Moselle Valley, with panoramas that change with each season, providing a real feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

Discover the grape variety: Pinot gris

Pinot Gris is a grey grape variety mutated from Pinot Noir. It has its origins in Burgundy, where it is called pinot-beurot in reference to the colour of the grey robes worn by the monks of the region. Established in Alsace since the 17th century, pinot gris was called tokay until 2007. It is made up of bunches of small berries that vary in colour from pink to blue-grey. It is particularly well suited to the continental climate because it is resistant to the cold in winter and to spring frosts. This variety also likes dry limestone soils with plenty of sunshine in the summer. Pinot Gris is well suited to late harvesting or to the selection of noble grapes, depending on the year and the concentration of sugars in the berries. Pinot Gris wines are distinguished by their aromatic complexity of white fruits, mushrooms, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, etc., and their great finesse. In the Loire Valley, pinot gris is used in the Coteaux-d'Ancenis appellations. It gives dry or sweet wines with pear and peach aromas.
