Perdriel is a small sub-region (20 kilometers 13 miles) South of the Argentine city of Mendoza at the foot of the Andes Mountains. Vineyards surround the small town of Perdriel on the southern banks of the Mendoza River. The sub-region is located within the Lujan de Cuyo department, and is just north of the well-known Agrelo district. Perdriel's location in the rain shadow of the Andes means that, as in most of Mendoza, the Climate here is semi-arid, with very low rainfall. Irrigation is used sparingly in the vineyards, and water comes from melted snow in the mountains that is brought down by the river.
