The wine region of Mokelumne River is located in the region of Lodi of Central Valley of United States. Wineries and vineyards like the Brooklyn Winery or the Domaine Birichino produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Mokelumne River are Zinfandel, Kerner and Cabernet-Sauvignon, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Mokelumne River often reveals types of flavors of non oak, earth or oak and sometimes also flavors of spices, red fruit or black fruit.
In the mouth of Mokelumne River is a powerful. We currently count 26 estates and châteaux in the of Mokelumne River, producing 42 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Mokelumne River go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or poultry.
Intraspecific crossing between frankenthal and riesling obtained in Germany in 1929 by August Karl Herold (1902/1973). In 1951 and by crossing it with the sylvaner, we obtained the juwel. It should be noted that there is a mutation of Kerner, discovered in 1974 and bearing the name of kernling, with grapes of pink-grey to red-grey colour at full maturity. Kerner can be found in Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Australia, the United States, Canada, Japan... practically unknown in France except in a few Moselle vineyards.
