The Two Paddocks Estate, a wine gem of New Zealand, is nestled in the picturesque and spectacular heart of Central Otago. It is a land blessed by nature, a place where wild beauty coexists with a refined wine culture. The estate is known for producing some of the best Pinot Noir wines in the region. The name "Two Paddocks" originated from the idea of a small vineyard of two plots. Initially owned by New Zealand actor Sam Neill, the estate was established in 1993 with a clear goal of producing quality wine, specifically Pinot Noir, which is now synonymous with the Central Otago region. This estate is set between majestic mountains that provide a stunning backdrop, as well as protection from climatic hazards, allowing the vineyard to produce high-quality wines year after year. The region's microclimate, characterized by warm summers, harsh winters, and dry autumns, also favors the growth of particularly robust and tasty grapes. The philosophy of the Two Paddocks Estate is to merge art and science to produce wines that are authentically expressive of their terroir. Respect for the environment is at the heart of their winegrowing practice, where the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers is banned. This concern for sustainability is reflected in the richness of the wines produced, offering complex and distinct notes that capture the essence of Central Otago terroir. Beyond its delicious Pinot Noir, Two Paddocks also produces a limited quantity of Riesling. The wines from this estate are appreciated for their complexity, finesse, and concentration, and are regularly hailed by international critics.
