The Ronco del Gelso Estate is a magnificent vineyard situated in the Friuli Isonzo wine region in northeastern Italy. Renowned for its exceptional white wines, this estate is a true gem nestled between the mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The estate takes its name from the presence of an old mulberry tree (or 'gelso' in Italian). This very tree adorns the labels of the wine bottles produced by the estate, symbolizing its commitment to staying true to its roots and the importance it places on tradition and nature. The Ronco del Gelso Estate has been operated by the Gallo family since the 1970s. However, it wasn't until 1995 that the current owner, Giorgio Badin, decided to make the leap and become a full-time winemaker. Giorgio's passion for viticulture and oenology is reflected in each bottle produced by the estate. Covering an area of nearly 20 hectares, the estate grows several grape varieties, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, as well as some native varieties such as Friulano and Ribolla Gialla. The estate is famous for its expressive wines, characterized by great finesse, freshness and surprising minerality, thanks to the unique terroir of the region. Leaning towards a production of quality rather than quantity, the Ronco del Gelso Estate strives to respect the harmony between the vine and the environment. The domain is committed to a sustainable viticulture approach, minimizing the use of chemicals and promoting the natural balance of the vine. Visiting the Ronco del Gelso Estate means discovering not only the region's award-winning wines, but also the centuries-old traditions of Friuli viticulture.
