Light and supple reds with a lightly coloured ruby robe, melted tannins and moderate acidity, with simple aromas of red fruits (cherry, strawberry), floral notes and a rustic profile. Easy-drinking, low-alcohol thirst-quenchers best drunk young. Once ubiquitous in the 19th century, now marginal but preserved in IGP Pays d'Hérault. Mineral, almondy Soave (Garganega) whites, fresh Pinot Grigio. 97,500 ha, Italy's largest production.
The word of the wine: Film maceration
A technique that consists of leaving the grapes to macerate in the open air at a low temperature before fermentation, thus enhancing the aromatic expression of the wine.
