Located in the picturesque Russian River Valley in Northern California, USA, Domaine Moshin Vineyards is a true paradise for wine lovers. Renowned for its production of high-quality wines, mainly Pinot Noir, this 25-acre estate uses sustainable viticulture methods to highlight the exceptional terroir of the valley. Established in 1989, Domaine Moshin Vineyards was created by Rick Moshin, a wine enthusiast and former math professor. The philosophy of the estate rests on the idea of letting nature play its role in the winemaking process, thus accentuating the unique character of each vintage. Moshin Vineyards stands out for its four-level cellar designed for gravity-fed wine production. This traditional method, respectful of the environment and almost without electricity, gives their wines a soft and refined character. Pinot Noir is king here, with an impressive list of wines that vary according to clones, terroirs, and winemaking styles. In addition to Pinot Noir, the estate also produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and varieties of Zinfandel and Merlot, all in limited quantities. Moshin's wines are famous for their complexity, delicacy, and balance, truly reflecting the beauty of the terrain on which the vines are grown. Visiting Domaine Moshin Vineyards also means immersing yourself in the warm hospitality of the Russian River Valley. With a welcoming tasting room and friendly staff, you will have the opportunity to taste the full range of their wines and discover the fascinating history behind each bottle.

Discover the grape variety: Vermentino

The vermentino grape variety was widespread in Italy, Sardinia and Corsica. Today, Vermentino is grown in the regions bordering the Mediterranean, mainly in Provence (Côtes de Provence, Bellet), Corsica (Corse Calvi), Languedoc (Côtes du Roussillon, Costières de Nîmes) and the Rhône Valley (Côtes du Luberon). Because it ripens late, Vermentino requires a warm climate for its development and can only be grown in regions with good sun exposure. Conversely, cold or temperate climates do not allow it to ripen properly. Vermentino is only susceptible to powdery mildew. When vinified on its own, Vermentino produces a single-variety dry white wine that is light and full-bodied with a pale yellow color. It can also be blended with other grape varieties such as Ugni Blanc, Cinsault and Grenache, in which case its low acidity makes it light and fresh. Vermentino belongs to the grape varieties of Ajaccio, Corsica and Corbières. The aromas released by this variety are multiple. One can detect notes of fresh apple, green almond, sweet spices, hawthorn, ripe pear and fresh pineapple.
