The Johannes Zillinger Estate is a true wine gem nestled in the heart of the Lower Austria wine region, known as Niederösterreich. Stretching over an area of 15 hectares, this winery distinguishes itself with its commitment to environmental respect, producing a range of biodynamic wines that are both sustainable and natural. The estate is a family affair, founded by Johann Zillinger who, over 30 years ago, began to convert to organic viticulture. His son, Johannes, took over the operation in 2012, thus perpetuating the family commitment to nature-friendly wine production. He continued to push boundaries by adopting biodynamic practices, becoming renowned for his unconventional yet successful approach to winemaking. What makes this estate unique is not only its commitment to biodynamic viticulture, but also the innovative winemaking methods it employs. Without technology, without selected yeasts, without enzymes, and without added sugar, the Johannes Zillinger Estate follows a minimalist approach to winemaking. This results in a range of wines that are truly the pure expression of the Niederösterreich terroir. The wines produced at the Johannes Zillinger Estate range from fresh and crisp white wines, made from typically Austrian grape varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, to bold red wines, expressing the richness of the Zweigelt grape variety. The estate also produces a remarkable range of orange wines, made using the ancestral method of fermenting white grapes with their skin. Visiting the Johannes Zillinger Estate is like taking a journey through the history and wine culture of Niederösterreich. The tours offer visitors an interactive experience that immerses them in the process of natural winemaking.
