The wine region of Beijing

Imperial wine region of northern China (Yanqing, Fangshan, Miyun around the capital), continental climate with cold winters and hot summers, well-drained sandy soils. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Marselan (star Chinese cross) are flagship reds — structured and full-bodied with intense notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum, sweet spices and a refined balsamic character, firm tannins. Opulent Chardonnay and indigenous Longyan are lively whites with white fruits and a fresh touch.

The word of the wine: Sour

Said of a wine that is unpleasantly pungent and has a vinegar-like odour.
