The Coteaux du Vendômois red is a Dry red wine. It falls into the category of still wine. It is produced in the Vineyard of the Loire, vineyard in the west of France and more precisely in the wine region of Touraine. Administratively, it can be produced in the department of Loir-et-Cher.

Its Terroir benefits from a temperate Climate with oceanic and oceanic influence and soils of chalk tuffeau, clay-limestone and flint clay. The "Pineau d'Aunis N" Grape variety is the only main grape variety that can be used to make Coteaux du Vendômois red wine. Discovered in the 1870s by Mr. Robin, who lived in the Drôme at the time in Lapeyrouse-Mornay, this ancient grape variety is believed to have originated in the north of Isère. It can also be found in Switzerland. According to Thierry Lacombe (I.N.R.A./Montpellier), it is the result of a natural intraspecific crossing between Tressot Noir and Mondeuse Blanche.
