The wine region of Atina
Bordeaux-style DOC of Lazio in the Val di Comino (Frosinone), hilly Ciociaria terroirs. Cabernet Sauvignon leads (≥50% in red, ≥85% varietal) as the flagship structured red with intense blackcurrant, black cherry, plum and herbal-spicy notes, firm tannins and superb ageing potential. Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah as supple complements. Rare Sémillon white (≥85%) with white flowers, citrus and a honeyed note.
The wine region of Lazio
Two-millennia Roman vineyard, predominantly white on the volcanic soils of the Castelli Romani. Frascati DOC as figurehead: fresh, accessible whites based on Malvasia and Trebbiano, notes of green apple, white flowers and almond, slightly bitter finish. Also Bellone and Grechetto. Emblematic red: Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, fleshy with notes of ripe cherry, dry herbs and spice, round tannins.
The word of the wine: Final
A more or less lasting impression that is felt in the mouth once the wine has been swallowed (or spat out in the case of a professional tasting). The finish can be short or persistent.
