The Tenuta di Castellaro Estate is an enchanting vineyard nestled in the picturesque Malvasia delle Lipari region of Italy. Spanning an impressive area, this vineyard is renowned for its exceptional production of superior quality wines, reflecting the richness of the Italian terrain. Marked by its imposing stone gateway, the Tenuta di Castellaro Estate extends across two islands, Lipari and Panarea, where the gentle, rolling hills provide the perfect terrain for grape cultivation. The vineyards are carefully terraced to maximize sun exposure, which enriches the complex and tantalizing flavor of the wines it produces. The estate takes its roots in ancient tradition, yet it is always driven by an unwavering passion for innovation and excellence. Through meticulous attention to detail and a profound understanding of winemaking, Tenuta di Castellaro consistently manages to produce wines of exceptional quality, which are appreciated both on the local and international market. One of the distinctive features of this vineyard is its inclination towards biodynamic viticulture, aiming to respect the natural cycle of the vines as much as possible. By using natural and sustainable growing methods, the estate creates wines that are not only delicious but also environmentally friendly. The wine cellar of Tenuta di Castellaro is another highlight of the estate. Carved into volcanic rock, it provides ideal conditions for wine ageing. Discover the grape variety: Nerello mascalese

A very old grape variety grown in Italy, more precisely in the north of Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna and in Sardinia. Its origin would be Greek because it was reported in Greece in the 7th century B.C. It is the result of a natural intraspecific crossing between sangiovese or nielluccio and mantonico bianco. It should not be confused with nerello capuccio and pignatello nero. It should be noted that Nerello mascalese seems to be a grape variety adapted to altitude, as is the case in Sicily where it is planted at a rate of 6,000 and 9,000 vines per hectare. It is practically unknown in other wine-producing countries, which is certainly due to its late ripening.
