Discover the grape variety: Carmenère

Carménère is a grape variety of Bordeaux origin. It is the result of a cross between Cabernet Franc and Gros Cabernet. In France, it occupies only about ten hectares, but it is also grown in Chile, Peru, the Andes, California, Italy and Argentina. The leaves of the carmenere are shiny and revolute. Its berries are round and medium-sized. Carménère is susceptible to grey rot, especially in wet autumn. It can also be exposed to the risk of climatic coulure, which is why it is important to grow it on poor soil and in warm areas. Carménère is associated with an average second ripening period. This variety has only one approved clone, 1059. It can be vinified with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It produces a rich, highly coloured wine, which acquires character when combined with other grape varieties.

The wine region of Colli Euganei is located in the region of Vénétie of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Vignalta or the Domaine Vignalta produce mainly wines red, white and sparkling. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Colli Euganei are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet franc, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. The wine region of Veneto

Veneto is an important and growing wine region in northeastern Italy. Veneto is administratively Part of the Triveneto area, aLong with its smaller neighbors, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In terms of geography, culture and wine styles, it represents a transition from the Alpine and Germanic-Slavic end of Italy to the warmer, drier, more Roman lands to the South. Veneto is slightly smaller than the other major Italian wine regions - Piedmont, Tuscany, Lombardy, Puglia and Sicily - but it produces more wine than any of them.

The word of the wine: Pressing

Mechanical action consisting of pressing the grapes (before fermentation for whites) or the marc soaked in wine (after fermentation for reds).
