The wine region of Cape South Coast is located in the region of Western Cape of South Africa. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Alheit Vineyards or the Domaine Lismore produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Cape South Coast are Chardonnay, Merlot and Viognier, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Cape South Coast often reveals types of flavors of butterscotch, black currant or honey and sometimes also flavors of cedar, oil or black fruit.
In the mouth of Cape South Coast is a powerful with a nice freshness. We currently count 35 estates and châteaux in the of Cape South Coast, producing 48 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Cape South Coast go well with generally quite well with dishes of shellfish, spicy food or lean fish.
An intraspecific cross between pinot noir and cinsaut called hermitage, obtained in South Africa in 1925 by Professor Abraham Izak Perold. Since then, it has been propagated in Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the United States (California), Canada, Brazil, Israel, etc. In France, it is practically unknown, although it is registered in the Official Catalogue of Vine Varieties on the A1 list. - Synonymy: none to date (for all the synonyms of the varieties, click here!).
