The wine region of Lirac is located in the region of Rhône méridional of Rhone Valley of France. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Rocca Maura or the Domaine L'Anglore - Eric Pfifferling produce mainly wines red, white and pink. The most planted grape varieties in the region of Lirac are Mourvèdre, Clairette and Roussanne, they are then used in wines in blends or as a single variety. On the nose of Lirac often reveals types of flavors of cream, chalk or apricot and sometimes also flavors of peach, tropical or grapefruit.
In the mouth of Lirac is a powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins. We currently count 144 estates and châteaux in the of Lirac, producing 321 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Lirac go well with generally quite well with dishes of beef, lamb or game (deer, venison).
Grenache noir is a grape variety that originated in Spain. It produces a variety of grape specially used for the elaboration of wine. It is rare to find this grape to eat on our tables. This variety of grape is characterized by medium to large bunches, and grapes of medium size. Grenache noir can be found in many vineyards: South West, Cognac, Bordeaux, Provence & Corsica, Languedoc & Roussillon, Rhone Valley, Loire Valley, Savoie & Bugey, Beaujolais.

When asked which is the most exciting appellation in the Rhône, there’s one that currently springs to mind before all others: Tavel. I have to be honest with you: I don’t buy much rosé. So, given that Tavel is, according to The Oxford Companion to Wine, ‘one of France’s few all-rosé appellations,’ my response might be unexpected. Guigal has acquired Château d’Aqueria for an undisclosed fee in a deal that adds to a sense of fresh dynamism in the historic vineyards of Tavel, a rosé-only appellation that lies on the west bank of the Rhône river in southern France.
