The wine region of Thrace
Ancestral region shared between Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria, one of the cradles of wine (cult of Dionysus), Mediterranean (Trakya/Greek) and continental (Bulgarian) sides, calcareous soils and gravelly loams. Mavrud is the signature Bulgarian indigenous red: dense and spiced with blackberry, plum, leather, tobacco and balsamic notes, firm tannins. Noble Xinomavro, Papaskarasi, Cabernet and Syrah as reds.
