The Vieux Château Certan is a wine estate located on the Pomerol plateau, in Gironde, France. This wonderfully beautiful place is situated in the heart of the magnificent vineyards of Bordeaux. The estate is one of the most recognized and oldest vineyards in the region. The estate consists of 10 hectares of vineyards, of which 8 hectares are Merlot and 2 hectares are Cabernet Franc. The surrounding vineyards are those of the current holder of the vineyard, the Grand Cru Classé Le Pin, and that of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. The Pomerol appellation is based on a soil composed mainly of gravelly alluvium on a well-drained and clay-rich terroir. The property is renowned for its quality and distinguished cuvées. The Vieux Château Certan is known for its rich and full-bodied wines. The powerful, rich, and long structure produced from the majority variety of Merlot is complemented by nuances of Cabernet Franc, which gives its wines a very interesting and complex character. Its annual production does not exceed more than 3,500 pieces per year and most of the bottles are bottled after extended aging in oak barrels.
