Château La Croix Taillefer is a prestigious vineyard renowned for its delicious and silky wines, which have become favorites among wine enthusiasts from around the world. Situated in the beautiful wine village of Pomerol in France, this family producer is known for its exceptional production of high-quality red wines. The vineyard, once known as "La Taillefer", was established in the mid-19th century. It was bought by Pierre Guinaudeau and his wife Monique in 1982, who renamed it "Château La Croix Taillefer" in reference to the Guinaudeau family name, who have been producing quality wines in this region for several centuries. Since then, the wines of La Croix Taillefer have become known for their finesse and elegance, and the Guinaudeaus were among the first winegrowers in the region to cultivate organic Merlot and Cabernet Franc grape types. The estate owns about 10 hectares of vineyards located on well-exposed small hills, giving the wines a rich and intense structure. The soil is very modern and the vineyard is managed responsibly, ensuring the excellent quality of the wines. Wines produced by La Croix Taillefer are fruity and revolve around notes of cherry, plum, vanilla and tobacco. They are also known for their interesting taste of undergrowth and sweet spices. The grapes harvested there are then carefully selected and vinified using proven methods, to achieve optimal quality. The wines are fermented and then aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months, allowing the wines to acquire complex and subtle notes. Château La Croix Taillefer produces exceptional quality, mature and fair wines. This is the factor that has contributed to its popularity and reputation. With its exciting production and delicious wines, Château La Croix Taillefer is considered by many as the leader of the French wine industry.

The word of the wine: Solera

A method of maturing practiced in Andalusia for certain sherries, which aims to continuously blend older and younger wines. It consists of stacking several layers of barrels; those located at ground level (solera) contain the oldest wines, the youngest being stored in the barrels on the upper level. The wine to be bottled is taken from the barrels on the lower level, which is replaced by younger wine from the upper level, and so on.
