The Vilarnau Estate, located in the heart of the charming Catalan region in Spain, is both a haven for wine connoisseurs and a solid candidate for the honor of Catalonia. In the frank appellation of Penedès, considered the "cradle of cava", the Vilarnau Estate spans almost 20 hectares. The Vilarnau Estate is a dazzling wine jewel, both for its production of superb and refined wine and for the natural beauty that surrounds it. It is nestled in a natural environment, endowed with exceptional fauna and flora and a breathtaking view of Montserrat mountain. Its vineyards produce wines of exceptional quality that brilliantly reflect the Mediterranean climate and the diversity of the soils of this region. The history of the Vilarnau Estate dates back to 1949 when the first bottles of cava were produced. However, the current winery was built in 2005 and offers futuristic architecture embracing a strong resurgence of Catalan modernism. Its name, Vilarnau, means in Catalan a "Villa Arnau", in reference to the Arnau family in the medieval period. The estate puts first and foremost respect for nature and prides itself on organic agriculture. In addition to cava, Vilarnau also produces a beautiful range of still wines, made from native varieties, notably Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada for the whites, and Garnacha and Monastrell for the reds. The bottles of the Estate stand out for their unique design, inspired by Catalan modernism and the art of Gaudi, highlighting Vilarnau's commitment to share Catalan culture with the world.

Discover the grape variety: Trepat

A very old grape variety found mainly in Catalonia (Spain), in the regions of Conca de Barbera and Costers del Segre, and also in the Balearic Islands, Murcia, Valencia, etc. It is said to be related to the white heben and has no link with the white trepat of Priorat. Before the phylloxera crisis, it could be found in Languedoc and Roussillon, which is no longer the case today, but it could be interesting for producing excellent and original rosé wines.
