PGI of western Greek Macedonia (Kozani district, vineyards at over 600 m altitude in steep isolated mountains far from maritime influences, rocky calcareous soils on steep south-facing gradients, PGI 1993, winemaking history since 1670): Xinomavro as the native signature Macedonian red – structured with concentrated red fruits, acidity heightened by altitude and arid terroir.
