Ward of the Paarl district (Western Cape, South Africa) on the north-western slopes of the Simonsberg, 50 km from Cape Town. Shiraz is the most-planted variety; Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Bordeaux blends with cedar and menthol notes; cooler-climate Pinotage more elegant than Paarl/Stellenbosch. Viognier, Marsanne, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay in mineral whites from the granitic soils. Distinctive granite outcrops; the elegance here contrasts with the generosity of broader Paarl.
