The wine region of Montecucco
Tuscan DOC south-west between Maremma and Monte Amiata (Grosseto/Siena), neighbour of Brunello. Sangiovese the red signature (min. 85% in DOCG): structured and elegant with black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet, undergrowth, maquis herbs, tobacco and spiced note, fine tannins and dense palate — between Montalcino finesse and Morellino power. Also supple Ciliegiolo (cherry, raspberry), broad Vermentino and fresh Trebbiano.
The wine region of Tuscany
Kingdom of Sangiovese: upright reds with cherry, plum, dried herbs and leather, lively acidity and firm tannins. Fleshy, food-friendly Chianti Classico DOCG, deep long-ageing Brunello di Montalcino (spice, tobacco, ripe black fruit), elegant Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. On the coast, Bolgheri crafts the opulent Cabernet- and Merlot-based 'Super Tuscans'. Some fresh white Vernaccia.
The word of the wine: Pressing Rosé
A method of making rosé wine that consists of pressing the grapes directly after crushing and light skin maceration. The resulting wine is lively, light and pale.
