The wine region of Vermentino di Sardegna
Italian DOC covering all Sardinia, single variety: Vermentino (~80% of Italian production). Signature dry saline whites with signature notes of white apple, lemon, grapefruit, white flowers, Mediterranean herbs, fresh almond and a mineral touch, lively palate punctuated by a typical light almond bitterness — the Mediterranean expression par excellence, perfect with seafood. Hot dry climate, granitic soils. Sunny wine.
The wine region of Sardinia
Italian Mediterranean wine island with 250+ varieties, strong native identity. Signature Cannonau (Grenache) in red: warm and deep with signature ripe cherry, garrigue, myrtle, spice and a balsamic touch, round tannins and a sun-drenched palate. Vermentino di Gallura DOCG star white (80% of Italian Vermentino): fresh and saline (citrus, pear, almond, sea iodine). Also dense Carignan, supple Monica, lively Nuragus, rare oxidative Vernaccia di Oristano.
The word of the wine: Maturing (champagne)
After riddling, the bottles are stored on "point", upside down, with the neck of one bottle in the bottom of the other. The duration of this maturation is very important: in contact with the dead yeasts, the wine takes on subtle aromas and gains in roundness and fatness. A brut without year must remain at least 15 months in the cellar after bottling, a vintage 36 months.
