The wine region of Choapa Valley

Choapa Valley is one of Chile's newest wine regions, located North of Santiago in the narrowest Part of the country. Here, between the peaks of the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, the cool, DryTerroir takes influence from both. Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon have proved well suited to the terroir here, producing smoky, Elegant wines with characters of dark fruit. The viticultural zone is located in Choapa province, halfway between the Limari and Aconcagua valleys, to the north and South respectively.

The wine region of Coquimbo

The Elqui Valley wine region is located 400 kilometers (250mi) North of the Chilean capital, Central-valley/maipo-valley/santiago">Santiago, at the very southern edge of the Atacama Desert. Its latitude of 29° makes it Chile's northernmost wine region, for now at least; the country's determined wine pioneers are now setting their sights as far north as the Atacama. Traditionally the region focused exclusively on producing Chile's trademark brandy, Pisco, but today Elqui Valley vineyards are producing Bright, intensely Aromatic wines, most notably from Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. As might be expected in an arid, largely uninhabited region surrounded by desert, the valley is hot and Dry making irrigation essential in all vineyards here.

The word of the wine: Cuvée prestige (champagne)

Vintage or not, it is composed of a selection of terroirs and generally comes from the first press after eliminating the very first juices that come out of the press. The best known? Dom Pérignon, Cristal de Roederer, Grand Siècle de Laurent-Perrie, Louise at Pommery. In fact, all the houses and most of the independent winegrowers have their own prestige cuvee.
