Château Palmer is a very old winery located in the commune of Margaux in southwestern France. It is about 25 km northwest of the famous wine town of Saint-Émilion. The château is found on a limestone plateau which is considered one of the top wine growing lands in the Bordeaux region. This unique terroir produces high quality wines, with unique flavors and fruity aromas. Château Palmer derives its name from a former owner, Major Charles Palmer, who purchased it in 1743. Later, in 1814, it was taken over by the Sichel family and then in 1950 by the Miailhe family who remain its owners till date. The estate covers about 60 hectares of vineyards, including 62% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. To these intense aromas, a minimum maturation of 14 months in oak barrels is added before bottling. Château Palmer is one of the 18 Grands Crus Classé of 1855, making it a world-renowned wine. Thanks to its quality, its wines are highly valued by experts and are among the favorites of the world's top wine connoisseurs. Its reputation has been built over years of hard work and its wines are consistently ranked among the best in the world.
