The wine region of Villány is located in the region of Dél-Pannónia of Hungary. We currently count 114 estates and châteaux in the of Villány, producing 854 different wines in conventional, organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines of Villány go well with generally quite well with dishes .
Intraspecific crossing between the saint laurent and the limberger realized in 1922 and in Austria by Fritz Zweigelt (1888/1964) who named it rotburger. Very well known in Austria, it can be found in most Eastern countries, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, the United States, etc. In France, it is not very well known and yet this variety has interesting qualities when vinified as a single variety for both red and rosé wines. - Synonyms: rotburger, klosterneuburger, zweigelt blau, blauer-zweigelt in Germany, zweigeltrebe in Austria, Great Britain and the Czech Republic, blauer zwelgetrabe in Hungary, etc. (for all the synonyms of the grape varieties, click here !)
red wines from the region of Villány go well with generally quite well with dishes of veal, pork or game (deer, venison) such as recipes of tripe in the style of caen, salty crumble with courgettes, goat cheese and bacon or wild boar with honey.
On the nose in the region of Villány often reveals types of flavors of oak, red fruit or black fruit and sometimes also flavors of dried fruit, non oak or earth. In the mouth in the region of Villány is a powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins.
