The Bow & Arrow Estate is an artisanal vineyard located in the beating heart of the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA. Observant students of French viticulture, the property's owners, Scott and Dana Frank, have created a true haven of peace and authentic winemaking, inspired mainly by the production methods of Loire wines. This picturesque estate, stretching over approximately 6.4 hectares, offers a spectacular panorama of volcanic and sedimentary terroirs, which give Bow & Arrow wines a unique flavor and texture. The climate of the Willamette Valley, with its hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, provides ideal growth conditions for the grape varieties grown here, including Pinot Noir, Melon de Bourgogne, and Gamay, to name just a few. Drawing inspiration from traditional winemaking techniques, Bow & Arrow has chosen to produce biodynamic wines that respect the environment and highlight the characteristics specific to the terroir. Here, there are no pesticides or herbicides. Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts, bottling without filtration and with a minimum of additives. The philosophy of the estate is centered on creativity and respect for nature. Scott and Dana Frank firmly believe that wine should not only tantalize the taste buds, but should also be a reflection of a specific place and moment - a concept the French would call "terroir". Visiting the Bow & Arrow Estate is an experience in itself. People come for the exceptional quality of its wines, but also for its magnificent tasting room with rustic charm. Open by appointment, it offers an impressive view of the vineyards. In short, Bow & Arrow can be described as a true hideaway for wine lovers in search of authentic and unique flavors.

Discover the grape variety: Gamay noir

Gamay is a Burgundian grape variety that has existed since the 14th century. For fear of competition with the pinot noir of Burgundy, gamay was finally uprooted and planted in the Beaujolais region, from Mâcon to Lyon. These siliceous and granitic soils suit it perfectly, and it gives its best here. But it is also planted all over France, such as in Lorraine, in the Loire Valley, in Bugey, in Savoie and in Auvergne. Gamay is early and very productive and needs to be limited so that quality prevails over quantity. Short winter pruning of the shoots and high density of vines per hectare are the methods that allow it to produce very fruity, fresh and greedy red wines. Gamay is also very popular in red wine futures, and produces wines from the Beaujolais region with very interesting character and ageing potential. The AOCs Crémant-de-Bourgogne, Mâcon, Anjou, Touraine, Rosé de vallée de la Loire, Côtes-d'Auvergne, Saint-Pourçain, Bugey, Gaillac, Côtes du Luberon... and many vins de pays are proud of it. Today, about 36,000 hectares of Gamay are cultivated in France, including 22,000 hectares in Beaujolais.
