For a long time it was confused with Gougean de l'Allier, but genetic analyses show that it comes from a mutation of Gouais blanc, also called Gouget blanc. The wine region of Friuli Aquileia is located in the region of Frioul-Vénétie Julienne of Italy. Wineries and vineyards like the Domaine Ca' Bolani or the Domaine Valpanera produce mainly wines white, red and sparkling.
