Austere, noble reds, pale in colour and quick to turn garnet, with powerful tannins and high acidity, showing aromas of sour cherry, faded rose, tar, white truffle, leather and balsamic notes with age. Outstanding ageing potential. Absolute star of Piedmont with Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG, also in Roero, Gattinara, Ghemme and Valtellina (Chiavennasca). The wine region of Struma River Valley

Warmest valley in south-western Bulgaria with sub-Mediterranean climate, vineyards around Melnik (cultivated for 8,000 years). Shiroka Melnishka Loza signature red (Churchill's favourite, broad-leafed indigenous variety): structured and spiced with notes of black cherry, blackberry, plum, tobacco, leather, Mediterranean herbs and a peppery touch, firm tannins — remarkable ageing. More accessible Melnik 55 and Ranna Melnishka. Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah complement.

The wine region of Thrace

Turkey's largest wine basin (~40% of national production) on the European shore, rolling hills between the Black Sea, Aegean and Marmara, temperate Mediterranean climate. Papazkarası and Kalecik Karası are the native signature reds: juicy red fruits, gentle spice and supple tannins. Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah in structured full reds. Adakarası for fresh rosés.

The word of the wine: Climate

Term used in Burgundy to designate a locality. The most famous climats are subject to specific recognition and constitute the first growths.
